Starting Over

Ok, so as you all can tell, we've been really bad about keeping up with our blog lately so I figured we should just "start over". We are one of the many Barker Families. In our little family there is Travis, Eden & Rachel.
Travis and I met on Myspace back in 2005 with an official meeting on March 28, 2006 the night before I went to Paris for a week. We were engaged about a year later. We had originally planned on getting married on September 4, 2007, but due to a life threatening kidney stone for Travis's mom we decided to postone the wedding until spring since neither one of us wanted our anniversary to be during the holidays. We were finally married on April 8, 2008 one year to the day of our engagement. Unfortunately, the serious medical problems followed with Travis's dad getting a fairly bad case on pneumonia which hospitalized him on the day of our reception.

As we really started our life together, we hadn't planned on having a family quite so soon after getting married, but I was pretty adamant about not wanting to be on birth control because I figured Heavenly Father would start our family on His time, not necessarily ours. We found out on June 10, 2008 that we were expecting a baby. Everyone at my work had been having some kind of stomach flu and that's what I thought I had. I left work early and just for kicks and giggles decided to take a pregnancy test. 4 tests and 2 brands later they were all positive. We told our families the following Sunday, which conveniently happened to be Father's Day. Another interesting fact is that we didn't decide to find out what the sex of the baby would be. We had names picked out for either one and we were both very excited to have a little girl.

We welcomed Rachel into our lives on January 30, 2009 at 12:45 AM. She came right on her due date. She was 8 lbs 3 oz, 21 inches long with blue eyes and LOTS of reddish brown hair. She is now 7 1/2 months old about 19 lbs and an extremely social baby. If she knows people are awake and doing something, she has to be up and at it too. It makes nap time & bed time interesting to say the least.

Well, this is us in a nutshell saying grazie and buonasera (that's Italian if you didn't know :-] )
